Novaphos enables circularity in WAP phosphate production by recovering sulfur gases through reprocessing of phosphogypsum.
Incumbent phosphate producers currently purchase sulfur, almost all of which is then trapped in phosphogypsum and disposed.
They have no economic alternative to reprocess this phosphogypsum and recover this sulfur for use.
Sulfuric Acid
Sulfur gas recovered as sulfuric acid, is one of the most commonly used industrial chemicals. About 2/3 of all sulfuric acid is used in WAP production of phosphoric acid.
